Studio Akane Moriyama was invited to propose art for lecture hall and four meeting rooms in new Regionens hus Göteborg/Regional government building in Gothenburg. Our panoramic proposal is a moment for people to share together in our silent yet constantly-changing-color landscape. Horizontal textile works in meeting rooms create a space for people to remember that we are all surrounded by these landscapes as our common ground. In contrast, drapery for lecture room offers space with dramatic change of scale; an enclosed space for unity and an open, light space with backdrop. The drape with enlarged pattern of iron ore (remembrance of the history of site) – which can look like a piece of stone, mountain or universe – has a ubiquitous, physical presence that makes people travel together in the same spatial experience.
