Studio Akane Moriyama was invited to propose art for two waiting rooms and two Rooms of Silence in Södrasjukhuset /Stockholm South General Hospital. The spaces were made for relatives and people close to deceased, to enable them to say their farewell in a calm and peaceful setting. Studio Akane Moriyama’s proposal was to create rooms filled with laser-cut textile that embrace visitors in a calm and secure atmosphere. The semi-transparent textiles were placed every 20-80cm in the rooms, which makes semi cylindrical soft volumes. It does not only create individual space in the room but also filter the light from outside. In these rooms, textile works as another skin of the visitors to make a secure feeling of calmness.
