Studio Akane Moriyama created curtains for a private house by architects Satoshi Matsuoka and Yuki Tamura in Hitachi, Japan. An 8m long curtain of silk tulle was made to accompany a characteristic half oval spiral staircase, which connects the three stories of the house. In addition, silk tulle curtains for windows and openings. The windows to the outside have big proportions relative to the size of the house, thus curtains were needed to ensure the privacy of the residents. The softness of the tulle’s knitted structure and the white silk’s slight reflection of light make the curtains appear as a second skin in the interior spaces of the house.
